"Creative Book Binding”
An Exhibition by the Society of Art Librarianship Students
May 3 - June 30, 2014
The books included in this exhibition showcase creative book binding techniques, which are often used in the artist's book genre. Artist's books are generally produced in limited numbers, so more complex binding methods are used and distinguish them from regular, trade editions.
In addition to presenting examples from the Fine Art's Library's collection of books with creative bindings, this exhibition also includes reference materials on the history of book binding and instructional materials for those who wish to explore this interesting art form further. The Fine Arts Library has images of hundreds of its artist's books available online through ARTstor's Shared Shelf database, which can be accessed from the Fine Art Library's homepage.
