Holocaust Remembrance Week: April 8th - 12th

Holocaust Remembrance Week

Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day,  is a commemoration for the approximately six million Jews who were killed during the Holocaust.  Partnering with UITS Research Technologies and the Helene G. Simon Hillel Center, the IU Libraries are observing  the commemoration with the following events.

IU Libraries Holocaust-related Collections Exhibit: April, Wells Library Lobby

“Mapping the Holocaust” Interactive Exhibit: April 8 – 12, Wells Library East Tower

This is a virtual Google Earth exhibit that uses “layers” created by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum to enhance Google Earth’s 3-D maps with information about various Holocaust sites. The exhibit will be run on an IQ-Table that allows users to interact with a touch screen in a manner similar to an iPad.  Items from the Libraries’ collections related to the Holocaust will be available for browsing (materials available for browsing April 10 only).

“Unto Every Person There Is A Name” Holocaust Victims’ Names Reading: April 10, Wells Library North Entrance

A reading of the Holocaust victims' names, led by the students and staff of the Helene G. Simon Hillel Center.
