Full-time students enrolled on the IU Bloomington campus may borrow a FlipUltra video recorder, iPod Touch, digital voice recorder, or analog tape recorder from Media and Reserve Services, Herman B Wells Library. The purchase of this equipment was made possible by the IUB Libraries and is a gift from the IU Parents Fund. A valid student photo ID is required upon checkout. Faculty and staff in need of digital equipment are encouraged to contact their department. All patrons in need of projectors are encouraged to make arrangements through Media Production Services in Franklin Hall at 855-8765, option 2.
Equipment located in Media & Reserve Services can only be checked out or returned between the following times:
Sunday 11:00am - 11:45pm
Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 11:45pm
Friday 8:00am - 8:45pm
Saturday 10:00am - 8:45pm
Summer, Holiday and Break hours will vary.
To borrow equipment, go to M&RS Circulation desk located on the ground floor of the Wells Library, Room 044.
A student may borrow only one piece of equipment at any given time.
Equipment circulates for 48 hours.
No telephone or online renewals allowed.
Overdue fines are $2.00 an hour. Fines begin to accumulate the first minute the equipment is overdue and will accrue even when the library is closed.
Equipment must be returned to the M&RS Circulation desk. Please do not use the bookdrop boxes.
No Reservations will be accepted. A "Hold" may be placed for the next available item (provided the student does not have any digital equipment currently checked out).
At the inspection check-out, and check-in, we will confirm the condition of the equipment, and verify that all parts are accounted for. If any components of the equipment are missing upon check-in, we reserve the right to refuse acceptance of the equipment until all parts are returned. This refusal does not waive the $2.00 an hour late fee.
Damaged or non-returned equipment will be billed to the patron at the current replacement cost (which can be very expensive), plus any overdue fines which can reach a maximum of an additional $100. Failure to return equipment may also result in legal action.
