Situated within the Office of Advancement, Becky Wood works with all IU Libraries sites to increase public awareness of library services, resources, partnerships, and reputation as one of the top academic libraries in the nation. Targeting faculty and students as well as the general public, Becky tailors messages to reach key audiences whether promoting a specific event, a new electronic resource, an exhibition at the Lilly Library, or a course taking place at Wylie House Museum.
Having earned her doctoral degree in English at Indiana University, Becky was an IU Libraries patron long before she accepted this position. Prior to her work at IU, Becky earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Wichita State University and taught English at the college level for fourteen years. Beginning in 2006, she served as the senior writer in the Office of the Provost and the Office of the President, working for Provost, then President McRobbie from 2006 to 2011. From there, she wrote for the president of the University of Chicago, also working on strategic communications project for the university as a whole.
She returned to Bloomington and to IU in 2013, and as a book maker and artist, she enjoys being surrounded by books every day at work.
